Its sad that my first post very intermittently back into the blogging world is about a really heart wrenching story, that makes you do a double take on this world we live in.

Last night, my friend Loco told me about her friend Elle and her boyfriend who are being questioned for murder. That in itself is shocking. You never think you’re a friend’s length away from a murderer.

They are being questioned for the murder of Elle’s daughter.

Baby Aaliyah was brutally murdered on Monday the 12th of October 2009. Her battered body was found by Elle on coming home from work. The two went to report death caused abuse by “a maid who had fled.” Police investigations commenced, she never had a maid. The body (that had already been buried) was found and an autopsy was done.

Aaliyah’s body was heavily scarred, with bite marks and bruises. A skull fracture, and signs of abuse: rape and sodomy. 25 year old Mohannad Taha Ismail repeatedly, ceaselessly abused her in the most inhumane of ways. The mother, Ellina Maulad Mahather let it continue.

Baby Aaliyah was only 3 years old.

Even though I knew neither Elle nor Aaliyah, my heart bled for her. This precious innocent angel deserved the world. Literally. She had strength beyond anyone’s comprehension, certainly not her own. That she was still alive was a miracle. Poor baby, no one fought back for you. My heart aches and bleeds.

If say she was still alive, in Malaysia, under the Children’s Protection Act, child abuse offenders can only be sentenced to a maximum of two years’ jail or fined $1428 or both.
